KEVIN HARVICK FOUNDATION & OLLIE’S BARGAIN OUTLET PUT THE JOY BACK IN CHRISTMAS FOR FOUR CHARLOTTE CHILDREN DISPLACED BY FIRE

Children Enjoyed a Four-Minute, Grab-All-You-Can Holiday Shopping Spree for Themselves and Family

Charlotte, N.C. (Dec. 15, 2016) – The joy of Christmas returned Thursday morning for four Charlotte area children recently displaced by fire, as they enjoyed a holiday shopping spree courtesy of the Kevin Harvick Foundation and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet.

Although the children, ranging in age from seven to 15 and members of two families, recently lost their homes to fire, they still enjoyed some Christmas cheer during a four-minute shopping spree with Kevin Harvick Foundation co-founder Kevin Harvick at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet in Matthews, N.C. Harvick, the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion, drives the No. 4 car for Stewart-Haas Racing.

The Kevin Harvick Foundation and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet first partnered for the shopping spree in December 2015.

“DeLana and I enjoyed watching the children who had just lost so much blast through Ollie’s and grab as many gifts as their carts could hold,” Kevin Harvick said. “It was overwhelming to see the sheer joy on their faces and to know that the Kevin Harvick Foundation and Ollie’s helped them forget about their families’ tragedies, even if for only a few minutes.”

Two sets of siblings from two different families took part in the holiday shopping blitz – 10 and 12-year-old brother and sister along with seven and 15-year-old brother and sister - and were accompanied by their family members.

Some of the most popular items were: electronics, action figures, board games, books, pet supplies and home goods.

In addition to Harvick, Mark Butler, President and CEO of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, and Capt. Sylvia Smith-Phifer, Charlotte Fire Department Chief, were in attendance to help the kids race against the clock. Capt. Smith-Phifer hand-selected the families and assisted them in the store.
