93.1 The Wolf/KHF Christmas For Kids

December 20, 2010

“In 23 years of being a foster parent, this is the first time I have seen anyone do something this great for these kids,” said a happy parent during the 93.1 The Wolf presents the Kevin Harvick Foundation Christmas For Kids event. On December 16, 2010, Kevin Harvick, along with his friends at 93.1 The Wolf, hosted a toy drive concert at Johnny and June’s Ultra Saloon in Winston-Salem, NC. The concert featured country music star Sara Evans and included outstanding performances by up-and-coming artist Bridgette Tatum and NASCAR’s own, Kyle Petty.

On December 18, 2010, over 700 children in foster care in Guilford and Forsyth counties were invited to a private holiday party at Oak Ridge Military Academy. The fun-filled day included presents for all, photos with Santa Clause, games, food, a race car, music, arts & crafts and more. During the party seven Kevin Harvick Foundation Chase Your Dreams Scholarships were awarded to local children in care.

“My dream is to overcome negative situations that I’m in and grow up to be a sign language interpreter,” said Kenya, age 14, “This scholarship will help me chase my dream by helping me pay for the classes I need in order to be able to learn sign language.”

The scholarships will be facilitated by Foster Friends of NC, whose mission is to provide a brighter future to children experiencing foster care.

“DeLana and I are extremely thankful to have partnered with 93.1 The Wolf on the Kevin Harvick Foundation Christmas For Kids event,” said Kevin Harvick, “It is important to us to support children in need in our community. The kids that came out were amazing and we hope that they know that there are a lot of people that care about them.”
