“KEVIN’S KREW” EVENT SET FOR SATURDAY AT CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY

September 11, 2012

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship contender Kevin Harvick welcomes 15 children from the George Werden Buck Boys & Girls Club in Joliet, Ill., to the final “Kevin’s Krew” event of the year Saturday at Chicagoland Speedway.

An arm of the Kevin Harvick Foundation, Kevin’s Krew (http://www.kevinharvickfoundation.org/who-we-support/kevins-krew/) is an at-track outreach program for underprivileged youth that shows them tangible evidence of the fruits of hard work, perseverance and a drug-free lifestyle.

Harvick’s guests will have all-access passes to Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race and will rub elbows with Harvick and Chicagoland Speedway President Scott Paddock.  In addition to meeting the driver of the No. 29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet and watching the race, the Boys & Girls Club will enjoy a tour of pit road, Victory Lane and the infield media center.

“Chicagoland has always been special to me because of my past success there, so it will be fun for me to share my memories and experiences with such a deserving group of young people,” Harvick said.  “With the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship kicking off at Chicagoland, these kids will witness first-hand what hard work and perseverance can mean for teams and drivers, and I’m hoping they realize the same lessons apply to their own lives, regardless of where they come from.  I’m really grateful to the folks at Chicagoland for supporting Kevin’s Krew in this effort.”

This week’s Chicagoland Speedway event is the final of six Kevin’s Krew events on the 2012 calendar, which also included Martinsville Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, Dover International Speedway, Infineon Raceway and Michigan International Raceway.
